Journal Of Military Experience

http://militaryexperience.org/
Heroes Fallen Studios Inc. President has been working on story sketches for the Journal Of Military Experience II ( JME II ) at the request of Editor and former Soldier, Travis Martin.
The book which will be released at the Arts Symposium in July. Showcases approximately 15 sketches done for the stories that Mr. Murwin illustrated. "Some of the stories were very heart wrenching just to read them, but also having to put a visual sketch to the words was sometimes very emotional" said Mr. Murwin.
But not all of the stories are heart wrenching, some are just down right funny. Heroes Fallen Studios President will be attending the Art Symposium on July 5-7. He will be giving a speech and also doing a workshop on the basics of comic illustration. Heroes Fallen Studios Inc. will also be set-up to sale copies of Untold Stories from Iraq & Afghanistan Volume I . They will also have HFSI T-shirts & prints as well.
Below is the information on the Arts Symposium
ATTENTION VETERANS: -Free, Three-Day Creative Arts Symposium July 5-7
Every veteran has a story to tell. That’s just the nature of the job. With each generation, young men and women encounter the extremes of the human condition in locations near and far, returning home in disbelief, struggling to explain—to themselves as well as others—what it was that happened to them. If you are a military veteran who can relate, we would like to provide you with three days of workshops, camaraderie, and events designed specifically to help you tell your story.
100 veterans will receive the following:
-
-Free lodging for three days
-Free meals for three days
-Free supplies and textbooks to help with the creative processes
-Free workshops
-
The Military Experience and the Arts Symposium will host numerous events entirely free to veterans and open to the general public:
-
-The release of The Journal of Military Experience’s second volume
-Conflict from Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam and local KY artists
-A public reading of works created at the symposium
-A live concert
-Public lectures by experts in fields that offer creative, therapeutic outlets to our troops
-
We will also have Veteran Service Organizations and volunteers of all sorts on hand to help make your stay more comfortable. In addition to a chance to share their works on the last day of the symposium, authors and artists will have the opportunity to publish with the JME’s third volume and follow up editorial consultation will be provided free of charge. We want you to help us help you understand what you’ve been through. Email travis.martin@uky .edu if you are a veteran and have specific questions about the offerings.
Artist Showcase: Armando Dela Cruz
Armando is an amazingly talented comic artist who resides in the Phillipines. He is a massive supporter of our American Military and Troops. He has donated his time and talent to illustrate some of our stories.

Remembering Vietnam
50th Anniversary of Vietnam war
March 2012
Above photo is from http://www.vietnamwar50th.com/operation_pershing/
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam war. Many may ask why would we want to remember or celebrate anything to do with the Vietnam war. Well for this civilian ,who unfortunately never had the opprotunity to serve this great country, it's about celebrating the life of those who did serve. Those that came home those that didnt. Its about remembering what these men and women went through many of them just kid's at the time. Vietnam changed a lot of peoples lives forever. Many of our Vietnam Veterans are still haunted by the war fighting out the battles in their heads every single day.
Unlike today with our troops from Iraq & Afghanistan many of our vet's did not receive much help if any from our government or the American people. Many, many of them have suffered with PTSD since they returned home . Locking it up all inside as the memories eat away at there very soul. And drains the life out of them. Some were able to adjust and come back home and have a productive life, but far to many were not able to do so. Then there are those who Never made it home the Fallen that were killed in Vietnam Not to mention our POW & MIA's.
So let me pose this as a question "Do your think that Honoring, Celebrating, & Remembering those that fought in Vietnam should be done" My answer is an astounding YES! For one simple reason Those that fought in the war did not just decide hey lets go to war with another country. No our Governments are the ones that sent these men and women to Vietnam to fight. And regardless of your views on the war or your political leanings. This is about Human Beings that many of whom were forced to fight the war because of the draft. So I say yes we need to Honor & Remember those who fought in the Vietnam war, why?
Because they are and were our fellow Human Beings, our brothers and sisters, uncles, cousins, mothers, fathers & FRIENDS. So please Honor and remember those who fought in Vietnam and Celebrate their Life! It's not a left or right Issue. It's a Human Issue! Unfortunately as long as man exist there will always be war.

Lessons Learned & Moving Forward for 2012
Well 2011 started off with the publication of our first charity book for the troops “Untold Stories from Iraq & Afghanistan” in February 2011. But little did we know that the coming year would be far less than successful. At the end of 2010 a lot of things came into place at the last moment which allowed us to get Volume One out in February 2011.
We did a print run of 5000 copies. To date we still have over 4000 copies left. While we had a good strong run of sales in the beginning the bad economy eventually won out and really crippled what we had intended on doing. Through out the year we had spurts of sales but nothing like we had hoped for. As we look back we realize we made some poor choices, especially where it came to pricing our initial book.
With a cover price of $24.99 plus shipping & handling for a 72 page color cover and B&W interior , We set our goals to high thinking because of the subject matter that the book would still sell strong. Well a lesson learned, is a lesson learned indeed! So in 2012 that will be remedied ! So stay Tuned here for our next issue.
If you served in any war past or present “We Want your Stories”
If you are presently active duty, retired or a veteran that has served in any war from WW I , WW II , Korea, Vietnam, Gulf War, Iraq or Afghanistan.
